Economics of Entrepreneurship
Reflecting on my semester-long experience in "Economics of Entrepreneurship", I find myself enriched by the application of micro and macroeconomic theory to the practical world of business start-ups and entrepreneurship.
The course was particularly highlighted by two major assignments that allowed me to apply the concepts and theories learned in class. The first assignment involved conducting a case study on a business of interest, and I chose Microsoft's Xbox line. This case study provided me with an opportunity to delve deep into the gaming industry and understand the intricacies of Microsoft's strategies, challenges, and successes in this competitive sector. My analysis of the Xbox line allowed me to appreciate the complexities of product development, market positioning, and sustaining innovation in a rapidly evolving industry.

The second assignment was a case study on an innovation trend I was interested in, which was mobile sports betting. This topic was fascinating due to its dynamic nature and the significant changes it has undergone in recent years, particularly with the increasing legalization and popularity of sports betting in the digital space. My research explored various aspects of mobile sports betting, including the impact of technological advancements, regulatory changes, and market growth. I analyzed companies like DraftKings and FanDuel, which have been instrumental in shaping this trend. Through this case study, I gained insights into the challenges and opportunities in this emerging market, including the ethical considerations and the potential risks associated with gambling addiction.

Overall, these assignments were invaluable in allowing me to leverage the knowledge gained in class to conduct thorough and meaningful research. They were an opportunity to not just learn about entrepreneurship in theory but to see it in action through real-world examples. This hands-on approach helped me develop a deeper understanding of what it takes to innovate and succeed in today's business environment.
